Ontwikkel jezelf als danser door samen met een van onze dansers te werken aan het repertoire van onze choreografen. Je komt in aanraking met ons repertoire en de verschillende danstalen die het Nederlands Dans Theater rijk is. Om deel te nemen aan ‘Open studio’ moet je op een dansvakschool zitten of afgestudeerd danser zijn. Het dansstuk dat het uitgangspunt is zal diezelfde avond te zien zijn in het Lucent Danstheater.

From July 30^th until August 11^th 2012 our company will organize a new edition of Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive. Throughout two ‘intensive’ weeks, (pre)professional dancers will have the opportunity to develop and fine-tune their skills as dance artists. The course focuses on talented dancers in the age-range of 14 till 30 years and is completely structured upon our artistic vision and objectives as a contemporary dance company. Ultimately this will be an exclusive opportunity for a select group of dancers to experience the knowledge, inspiration and passion of our artistic team as well as working side by side with our dancers.

Program
Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive is a unique experience which will take place in the atmosphere and surroundings of our company’s home. In our studios you will take part in a rigorous training program comprised of our company repertoire, workshops new composition and classes focused on dance techniques. We offer a professional training program aimed at developing yourself as a complete and versatile contemporary dancer, which will be overseen by our international artistic team of choreographers and teachers. The repertoire of Nederlands Dans Theater’s resident and associate choreographers form the basis of this two weeks course. This will be combined with your participation in the creation of a new work by one of our upcoming Nederlands Dans Theater-affiliated choreographers. The program is completed with ballet classes, Ohad Naharin’s Gaga technique classes and improvisation workshops, creating a structure very similar to the training of our dancers.

In this edition we will be focusing on the repertoire by Paul Lightfoot & Sol León, Jiří Kylián and Crystal Pite. Further specific program details will be available in January 2012.

To create an even more complete experience, Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive also offers a special auxiliary program including master classes and various discussion topics. All extra activities are related to Nederlands Dans Theater and its history within the field of contemporary dance. This additional aspect of our program will provide you with more in-depth knowledge and, we are certain, will challenge you to further investigate the many layers and perceptions of contemporary dance.

Participants
The two week program is especially created for (pre)professional dancers aged 14 till 30 years old. Enrollment for the Summer Intensive takes place by DVD-audition only. This DVD should last no longer than 10 minutes and show at the barre, centre and a contemporary solo. Please find more information about the audition in the terms and conditions (see bottom of page).There is a limited amount of 60 places available. The artistic staff of Nederlands Dans Theater selects the participants during the audition procedure based on their age, experience, technical development and creativity. The selected participants will be divided by the artistic staff into three groups: group A, B and C. This division is made based on age.

Schedule
During the two week Summer Intensive group A and B will take the following classes: Gaga, Ballet, Repertoire Solo Crystal Pite, Repertoire Solo Paul Lightfoot & Sol León, Repertoire Partnering Jiří Kylián, Repertoire Partnering Paul Lightfoot & Sol León and New Composition. Group C has Ballet, Repertoire Mix, Improvisation and New Composition on their schedule. The content of the classes and the selected repertoire is composed based on age and level of the participants in each group.

Housing
Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive offers you a great housing possibility with hostel Stayokay in The Hague. This hostel is centrally located and within walking distance of the theatre. If you book through Nederlands Dans Theater and book for the full two week period there is a special price (discount) for fourteen nights that include a shared dorm with four to eight beds, a shared bathroom and breakfast. The dorm rooms will be shared with other participants of Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive. There is also the possibility to have dinner at the hostel for a set price. Other services available at an additional charge are a laundry service, bike rental and safety lockers.

Scholarship
A small amount of scholarships will be available for participants of Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive. A scholarship can fund (part of) your course fee or offer you housing in a guest home. The scholarships will be selected by a committee of our company's artistic staff members. The applications will be judged on talent and financial need. Only participants who fulfill both criteria will be considered for a scholarship.

Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive scholarship fund has only limited sources. Therefore, if your participation in the course depends on the extra funding, we highly recommend you to also apply for a scholarship elsewhere. Of course we are happy to assist you with the applications for a other scholarship.

Masterclass ´Traces'
Inspiratiebron voor deze eerste masterclass tijdens Holland Dance Festival, is de voorstelling 'Traces' van Nederlands Dans Theater 1. Dit programma bevat twee wereldpremières, van Crystal Pite en Marco Goecke, naast een uitvoering van Jiří Kylián's Double You (1994). Je werkt samen met een van de dansers uit Nederlands Dans Theater 1 met het repertoire van één van onze choreografen.

Dit programma bevat twee wereldpremières, van Alexander Ekman en Johan Inger, naast een uitvoering van Lucáš Timulak's Offspring (2009). Je werkt samen met een van de dansers uit Nederlands Dans Theater 2 met het repertoire van één van onze choreografen.

Tijdens deze masterclasses ontwikkel jezelf als danser terwijl je in aanraking komt met ons repertoire en de verschillende danstalen die het Nederlands Dans Theater rijk is.
